New album from Brooklyn Soul Group THE REVELATIONS

The Cost of Living set for release April 29th
First single “Why When Love is Gone” available now as free download

The Revelations are set to release their fourth
studio recording entitled The Cost of Living (Decision/Red River/Sony RED Music) on April 29th.  The new record displays the Brooklyn, NY band’s trademark postmodern take on the classic soul/blues/rock sound, something The New York Times’ Jon Pareles called “old fashioned soul songs for twenty-first century hard times.”

Led by vocalist and songwriter Rell Gaddis, The Cost of Living was recorded at Willie Mitchell’s legendary Royal Studios in Memphis, TN and features five original songs and three cover tunes.  From the first single a throbbing cut of a 1960’s Isley Brothers tune “Why When Love is Gone”, to the Memphis soul drenched original “Game of Love”, The Cost of Living captures listeners very quickly.

NPR says the group “blends the sounds of the bluesy rural South and gritty urban streets” and “crafts a sound that’s timeless and undeniably energetic.”

Produced by Bob Perry and Lawrence “Boo” Mitchell the album also features the bass driven “Mama”, written by Rell and the band, about a single mother scrounging to raise her children, alongside the jaded optimism of  the reggae tinged rocker “It’s Okay.”  With the hard funk groove of “Money Makes The World Go ‘Round” to the heart-broken disillusionment of the soul classic “Got To Use My Imagination” , The Revelations continue their tradition of presenting blues topics with soul music’s urgency, weaving tales of perseverance despite hardship.

Alongside Gaddis (a former Roc-A-Fella signee), The Revelations feature Wes Mingus on guitar, Gintas Janusonis on drums, and newcomer Ben Zwerin on bass. The album also features  Stax and Hi Records session legends Bobby Manuel (guitar), Lester Snell (keyboards), and Charles Hodges (organ).

Since they first came on the scene in 2008 with their Deep Soul EP (Decision), The Revelations have made a significant impact on the blues/soul scene. Jim Farber of the New York Daily News wrote, “The (Revelations) songs’ melodies often recall the work of ’70s soul stars, but they’re played with a ’60s fury”. Adds Soul Tracks “… rich music where nothing’s artificial, nothing’s counterfeit, and everything’s just pure, all natural soul.”

The Revelations have provided musical backing for icons such as the Wu-Tang Clan and Lee “Scratch” Perry, as well as soul royalty Otis Clay, Willie Clayton, Benny Latimore, and Swamp Dogg. Their engaging and energetic live performances have won over audiences from Brooklyn to the Mississippi Delta to California as well as Europe, and helped them create fans such as A-listers B.B. King, Bobby Womack and Stevie Wonder in the process.

This is new, true soul music with a sharp, modern edge. For tour dates and more information visit

5x GRAMMY WINNER & LEGENDARY GUITARIST ROBERT CRAY REVISITS CLASSIC SOUL TO COMPOSE A NEW TIMELESS SOUND.

Cray reunites with producer and friend Steve Jordan for 2014 worldwide release

“IN MY SOUL” March 31 (EU) / April 1 (US)
Legendary guitar musician and singer-songwriter Robert Cray releases In My Soul on April 1, 2014 in the US on the Provogue label. This will be the seventeenth studio album for the 5x Grammy winner, 15x Grammy nominee and multi-platinum selling artist. Watch EPK: http://youtu.be/v1wBd4CzGCo
Produced by American multi-instrumentalist, composer, musical director, Grammy Award-winning artist and longtime Cray friend Steve Jordan (John Mayer, Keith Richards), In My Soul captures Cray at his finest with an outstanding 10 song collection of Stax and Chess influenced soul and blues that showcases his trademark guitar playing and his extraordinary vocals. A bonus track “Pillow” will also be included on the limited edition CD.
From the driving original classic Cray “You Move Me”  with its scorching guitar leads, to the melodic 60’s sway of “Fine Yesterday”  featuring Cray’s trademark soul drenched vocals, In My Soul draws listeners in very quickly.
Recorded at Santa Barbara Sound and engineered by Niko Bolas, In My Soul features the Otis Redding cover “Nobody’s Fault But My Own” that finds Cray trading vocals with drummer Les Falconer and features a punchy horn ensemble and catchy guitar verse. The moving Cray penned “What Would You Say” pierced with his unique guitars licks, has Cray dreaming about a better world and in traditional Cray fashion asking listeners, “What would you say if we quit waging war, children felt safe to sleep. One of these days we may all learn to talk over a table with something to eat. What would you say? Can we do that, What would you say?”
Longtime bandmate Richard Cousins co-wrote the Booker T homage, an instrumental entitled “Hip Tight Onions” as well as the poignant 70’s tinged “Hold On” that talks about relationship perseverance during difficult times. Cries of lost love are told in both “Pillow”, the haunting bonus track co-written by Cray and Jerry Friedman as well as “I Guess I’ll Never Know” the funky hard driven tune co-written by Falconer. The album also features a version of “Deep In My Soul” a staple in the set list of the great soul and blues singer Bobby Blue Bland as well as a version of the Isaac Hayes / David Porter cover “Your Good Thing (Is About to End)” first recorded by Motown’s Mable John in 1966 and then became a hit single for Lou Rawls in 1969.
New Yorker Magazine (Sept 2013) calls Cray “One of the most reliable pleasures of soul and blues for over three decades now… “and Rolling Stone Magazine (4/2012) credited Cray’s Strong Persuader album to having reinvented the blues with his “distinct razor sharp guitar playing” that “introduced a new generation of mainstream rock fans to the language and form of the blues.”
Robert Cray has written or performed with everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker.  Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame at the age of 57, he is one of the youngest living legends to receive the prestigious honor. With over 12 million records sold and his own line of Fender guitars, Cray has established himself as a genre defining artist- breaking through the pop ceiling with his gate crashing/blues-edged trademark sound and distinct style that has become a signature blend of r&b, pop, rock, soul and traditional blues.  The New York Times says, “his voice, alternately smooth and craggy, is often richer and more emotive than Mr. Clapton’s, and he knows the best ways to use it,” while Guitar Player Magazine noted, “Robert Cray is not only making great music he’s making history…”
And while he can look back over an astonishing four-decade career (this year marks the 40th Anniversary of the formation of the Robert Cray Band!) Robert Cray is too busy moving forward on an amazing journey and embarking on yet another world tour with the Robert Cray Band. The band includes Cray (vocals/guitar), Richard Cousins (bass), Dover Weinberg (piano/keyboard) and Les Falconer (drums).

REBECCA PIDGEON offers fans “FEATHERS” from her BLUE DRESS ON

New video directed by Clara Mamet gets national attention (November 19, 2013) Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and actress Rebecca Pidgeon releases the single “Feathers” from her new album BLUE DRESS ON. Pidgeon co-wrote the song with David Batteau and says it’s one of the springing points of the new album. “It’s a love song featuring an erhu—a Chinese stringed instrument—but with more of a Celtic sound,” she says. “We initially made these little demos, and this track we used quite a bit as a demo. People started commenting on how much they liked the song so we thought it would be a great first single.

” The corresponding video directed by Clara Mamet: http://youtu.be/AXCNZhLqfhE is quickly getting national attention. Mamet, the daughter of Pidgeon and Pulitzer Prize winning writer/director David Mamet says she wanted the opportunity to work with her mother. “I liked the melody and the simplicity of the song,” says Mamet. “And thought it would be fun to do something with my mom.” Video credits also include Jeff Cohn as the DP (Director of Photography), and Barbara Tulliver as editor.

“Feathers” is the first single from Blues Dress On, a 13 track album produced by Pidgeon and guitarist Tim Young. Her seventh studio recording, the album also includes “Sailors Marriage” and “Come Up to My Room”. Listen here

Originally the lead singer for the British folk rock/pop band Ruby Blue, Pidgeon, known for her dark lyrics and bright vocals, has been touted by Rolling Stone Magazine as “one of those rare singers who convey emotion purely…” and in an interview with the Wall Street Journal’s wsj.com  talks about her approach to songwriting.

Her solo recording career commenced in 1994 with the release of her solo debut album The Raven. Her last release Slingshot (in 2012) was her sixth solo effort, and she considered it a creative breakthrough. “I reached a point where I felt I had to take my singing more seriously and really make a 100% commitment to it, instead of saying this is something I do that’s not acting,” Pidgeon, said at the time. “I finally said to myself, ‘I am a singer.’”

Slingshot garnered a Grammy nomination and had her performing at Farm Aid alongside Neil Young, Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp and headlining the Wine, Women & Song Concert Series. In the past year, Rebecca has toured with noted artists Marc Cohn and Keb Mo and shared the stage with Aimee Mann, Madeleine Peyroux, Stephen Kellogg ,Rusted Root and Jeffrey Gaines, to name a few. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts graduate continues to juggle her musical and extremely successful acting careers. She has been featured in several films including “Red,” alongside Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman and most recently appeared in the 2013 Emmy nominated HBO biopic Phil Spector alongside Al Pacino and Helen Mirren. The film featured Rebecca’s version of the Spector penned “Spanish Harlem”

Rebecca Pidgeon will be performing in LA at Hotel Café on December 20. She heads out on a national tour with Marc Cohn in January 2014. For more information and tour dates please visit www.rebeccapidgeon.com you can also follow Rebecca on twitter @rebeccapidgeon

Tickets are $25 and available at http://theiridium.com/events/1937/mitch-winehouse or at the door. Reservations are recommended.
Winehouse, after many years of coaxing from his daughter, made his recording debut Rush of Love in 2010 http://www.mitchwinehouse.co.uk. The album helped turned a life-long ambition into reality, showcasing his in-depth knowledge and sheer passion for Jazz and Swing music and featured a host of rarely covered classics as well as four brand new tracks. The album also gave father and daughter the opportunity to publicly share their passion for jazz, as Amy would attend some of Mitch’s shows when she was in town and join him on stage.
Upon Amy’s passing, Mitch along with Amy’s mother Janis formed the Amy Winehouse Foundation. The Foundation was formally established in the UK in 2011 by Amy’s family in honor of her memory and in keeping with her passion of wanting to help children in need. To date, the UK Foundation has allocated over £500,000 to various organizations. Soon after they formed a US Foundation.
Launched in the US at Joe’s Pub in NYC on April 11, 2012, the mission of the Amy Winehouse Foundation –US www.amywinehousefoundation.org/us is supporting and empowering children and young adults in need through music therapy and music education and works to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on young people. KATRINA joins MEATLOAF on “Mad, Mad World” Summer Tour!

KATRINA joins MEATLOAF on “Mad, Mad World” Summer Tour!
New single “So Eden” quickly climbing Billboard Charts!

(July 19, 2012, New York, NY) – Vocal powerhouse and critically acclaimed songwriter KATRINA joins legendary rocker MEAT LOAF on the North American leg of his “Mad, Mad, World” Summer Tour” beginning July 21 in support of her recent release In the Blink of An Eye (Red Red Records). The 11-song album produced by the award-winning producer Val Garay (James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, The Motels) features the hit songs “So Eden” and “Shame on Me.”
KATRINA first came to national attention in 1990 at the age of 12 after winning the Junior Vocalist Competition on the nationally televised talent show Star Search against future R&B singer Aliyah www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dx_5SLhIvM. She was offered various recording contracts from major record labels at the time, but the experience created problems at home for the child star and soon the thing she loved most wasn’t fun anymore. “I decided to stay in school and try to live a normal life, recalls Katrina, “I just wanted to be a kid,” she says. Katrina went on to college and then law school becoming a practicing attorney before deciding to return to music professionally.
“I never stopped writing or recording. It was something I did to relax. And although I sang backup for friend’s bands, it wasn’t until I went to see Cher a few years ago that I realized just how much I missed singing professionally,” Katrina told the UK Daily Mail in a recent interview www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2119442/Katrina-reveals-return-music-20-year-break-finally-right.html. “I loved practicing law but felt a stronger urge to go back to music; I missed the stage and touring. People ask me ‘don’t you regret not signing a deal when you were a kid. Imagine how many albums you’d have out by now’, but I really have no regrets. I have had an amazing life journey so far, I’m very blessed and I believe I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be right now.”
And where she’s supposed to be is with a new single entitled “So Eden” www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhH4SFMgnh0 that has been gaining momentum at AC Radio in recent weeks, charting at Top 20. Named one of Clear Channel’s New Artists to Watch, the new single follows the success of her singles “OPM” and “Shame on Me” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAFRvo0xaXg – both songs giving Katrina a slew of new fans including the Sally Tomatoes who recently covered “Shame on Me” for YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYFAHd2_l-c&feature=related

Rock/R&B/Soul & Blues Icon ROBERT CRAY releasing new studio album in September 2012 !

Legendary guitarist and 5x Grammy winning
Rock/R&B/Soul & Blues Icon
ROBERT CRAY
releasing new studio album in September 2012 !

(New York, NY, March 14, 2012) Five-time Grammy award winning legend and Blues Hall of Fame Inductee Robert Cray heads into the studio this month to record a new album scheduled for release later this year. Producing for the multimillion selling Cray will be famed rock producer Kevin Shirley (Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Joe Bonamassa, Black Crowes, Rush). “I’m really enthusiastic about collaborating with Kevin, says Cray, “he’s done some amazing work in the past and I like the direction we’re taking for this album.” Adds Shirley, “What an absolute honor to work with Robert Cray. I’ve been a fan since Strong Persuader and he is such an extraordinary talent – it’s really such a treat for me! My goal and challenge with this record, is to tap into the edgy vitality and spontaneity of a live Robert Cray performance, and wrap it up as a studio recording, with a big Blues bow! “

This will be the 21st release for rock/blues icon Cray since he first arrived on the scene with Who’s Been Talkin’ before quickly hitting the Billboard Top 20 with the album Strong Persuader (a moniker quickly given Cray) featuring the smash single Smoking Gun. Recently President Obama was credited in having “pulled a Robert Cray”- being a “strong persuader” when it came to touting his healthcare reforms. Since the release of Smoking Gun, Cray went on to collaborate, perform and befriend some of the world’s greatest blues guitarists including Albert Collins, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and BB King. Cray continues to perform with Clapton, taking the stage at his annual Crossroads concert. In addition to Clapton and King, Cray has written for Tony Bennett and worked with an array of artists from Tina Turner, Keith Richards, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry and Bonnie Raitt to name a few.

The New York Times says, “his voice, alternately smooth and craggy, is often richer and more emotive than Mr. Clapton’s, and he knows the best ways to use it,” while Guitar Player Magazine says, “Robert Cray is not only making great music he’s making history…”

Cray’s new album will be released on the internationally renowned Mascot Label Group. “I am very proud to add the legendary Robert Cray to the Provogue roster,” says Label President Ed van Zijl, “Not only is Robert an artist of the highest caliber, he has worldwide name recognition that garners a tremendous amount of respect. We are honored and dedicated to deliver a campaign worthy of Robert’s talent.”

Never content with interpreting his music the same way twice, Cray’s daring innovations have placed him at the top of the business- breaking through the pop ceiling with his gate crashing/blues-edged/Grammy winning trademark sound and distinct style that has become a signature blend of rhythm and blues, pop, rock, soul and traditional blues helping introduce old and new fans to a more contemporary blues sound.

He has his own signature line of Fender Guitars and just last year (still in his fifties) was, according to the Blues Foundation, one of the youngest ‘living legends” to be inducted into the 2011 Blues Hall of Fame!

Since the release of his last studio album, the Grammy nominated This Time (2009) and his live album Cookin’ in Mobile (2010), Robert Cray has been touring extensively with The Robert Cray Band, performing on various TV shows including Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

The Robert Cray Band features childhood friend and bassist Richard Cousins, longtime Cray band member and keyboardist Jim Pugh, and drummer Tony Braunagel who joined the band in 2007.

Cray has received 5 Grammys, 15 Grammy nominations, and has performed thousands of sold-out shows worldwide. He made his film debut performing in the classic National Lampoon’s Animal House and was featured in Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues series. He has appeared in Tina Turner’s TV special Break Every Rule, the Chuck Berry tribute Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll, and the Rolling Stones’ pay-per-view video Voodoo Lounge.
