(Los Angeles, CA, July 20, 2015) – Singer-songwriter and award winning vocalist Katrina Woolverton is honored to be performing at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles this month! She joins a diverse array of artists and dignitaries celebrating the amazing courage and skill of over 6500 young athletes. Honorary Chairs of the Games are President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and California Governor Jerry Brown serving as Honorary Hosts.
Katrina will be performing on the World Games Music Festival Stage on Thursday, July 30th at UCLA’s Wilson Plaza from 11:40am-12pm. She will be performing an acoustic set with guitarist Andrew Doolittle that will feature songs “Shame On Me” and “So Eden” from her 2012 Billboard charting album debut In The Blink Of An Eye (Red/Sony), as well as her new soon to be released single “Heatwave” from her upcoming album Long Time Coming.
Katrina has toured across the US with the legendary icon Meat Loaf (as well as her own live treks in the U.S. and UK). She along with Doolittle on guitar, received glowing reviews while holding the opening slot for the veteran rocker throughout his 2012 Mad Mad World Tour. Her accomplished vocal style also scored her coveted radio support including over 1000 spins on SiriusXM’s contemporary music channels.
Katrina’s show-stopping live prowess also inspired her to recently record an acoustic version of “Shame On Me” while working in London on her sophomore album. The new recording of “Shame” http://www.katrinawoolverton.com/shame-on-me-acoustic was prompted by fans response to a stripped-down more intimate version performed on tour.
The 2015 Special Olympics World Games Festivals are free and open to the public daily, beginning at 10am-though some evening events may be at a limited capacity due to space restrictions. For more information visit: http://www.la2015.org/special-events-programs/festivals-entertainment
