The annual National Chanukah Menorah lighting ceremony will take place on Tuesday afternoon on the Ellipse. Vice President Joseph Biden will preside over the event beginning at 4 p.m. The gates to the Ellipse opens at 1:45 p.m. The event is free, but tickets are required, and are available online or by calling 202-335- 5600. The ceremony will include performances by the U.S. Army Band, The Three Cantors and Alex Clare. This year’s event is the 35th anniversary of the first lighting in front of the White House in 1979.
