(August 10, 2014 Milwaukee, WI): The 3rd Annual JMJ Back 2 School Giveaway sponsored by CLICKS will be held on Saturday, August 16th from 1-4pm at 4923 West Villard Avenue in Milwaukee. CLICKS is a new Adidas store opening in the area and owned by Erik “Shake” James, a close friend to music legend Jam Master Jay (JMJ) from Run-DMC, and this annual event is a way for Shake to honor Jay’s memory. In the past years Shake’s Three Stripe Barber & Beauty had sponsored but this year it will be held in a different location due to construction.
During the event, Shake will be giving away school supplies that he has purchased along with donated food, T-shirts, book bags and sneakers to kids from the community. Kids must be present to participate and receive any of the free items.

“We still miss him terribly,” says Shake, “but we keep it positive and try to live our lives the way he lived his- by helping others. With this event we work to do something good for my community in Jay’s name. Last year was our second event. We were able to distribute over 100 free book bags, Adidas sneakers and socks. This year we’ve added Adidas socks. Walkerwear T-shirts, Solepacks and items from GIII by Carl Banks to give the kids. The book bags will be filled with school supplies, pencils papers, folders, crayons, rulers, glue and calculators but kids have to be present in order to receive any free items.”

Jam Master Jay’s band mate Darryl “DMC” McDaniels will be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures. Mayor Barrett and Alderman Willie Wade are both expected to attend.

Adidas has been a big supporter. They were the first to sponsor Run-DMC and has continued to support the group and JMJ’s legacy through various campaigns and donations to the JMJ Foundation. Adidas is asking that people attending JMJ Back 2 School Giveaway (and fans of Jam Master Jay’s from across the world who are not able to attend) take part in the event by tweeting #CLICKS .

Jam Master Jay (JMJ), born Jason Mizell, together with Joseph “Run” Simmons and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels helped forever change the world through the music, fashion and culture of Run-DMC. They sold over 20 million albums and were the first group in hip hop to achieve platinum sales status, top the billboard pop charts, have a video on MTV and grace the cover of Rolling Stone, just to name a few. Jam Master Jay was murdered on October 30, 2002 in a Queens, NY. In 2009, he as a member of Run-DMC was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Shake intends to hold this event every year. Anyone looking to help sponsor future events is encouraged to contact him at missujay2@aol.com
